Note, please read this page,
before proceeding. It gives a story / example that is used in these
definitions.
Trauma - Trauma occurs when there are more events happening,
more lions eating deer, then the brain can process, in such a way
as to distinguish whether it is in danger or not.
Trigger - A trigger is a stimulus that tells us we are unsafe
in some way. This can be from any or all of our senses. It can be
the way someone looks, talks, dresses. It can be a sound, a smell,
an object. This, in essence, can be the rabbit or the lion. The
trick is to figure out which we are really seeing - true danger,
or just something that looks like danger.
Wound - Basically, we can think of a wound as a place in
us, where we are separated from our source. Wounds can take many
forms. I would call even the belief that we are bad or wrong, that
our nature is sinful ... I would call that a wound. And the other
main form of woundedness in this context is our inability to be
fully present, because when we are all we see is rabbits and lions.
It may be difficult to think of oneself as wounded. Just remember,
even Superman has his kryptonite.
